So I also decided to enjoy MTG by putting together complete sets. I love playing the game but had a really hard time playing with strangers at my LGS because I too have high amounts of social anxiety. This is a game with game pieces and an unregulated secondary market. If you want an investment look into property or stocks. As more people open cards there's more supply and so the price goes down. Don't buy singles, sit on them, and immediately expect them to go up in price. I don't want to discourage you from buying packs or collecting the cards but I want your expectations to be accurate. If you enjoy the chase of opening packs that's fine but don't expect it to be more efficient than buying singles. It's just more financially viable to buy singles to get what you want. For each Teferi and Karn you may have to buy individually you also get dozens of commons/uncommons and even bulk rares by just opening packs.

2016 MTG CARD SETS CRACK
Most Magic players here will advise people not to crack packs looking for specific cards. Since you're collecting your cards in binders and not selling them they only have the value you ascribe to them. I could list a card for $200 on tcgplayer but until someone buys it it's not really worth $200. Remember the value of a card only matters when it is being sold/bought. If you want to crack packs, not sell the singles, and watch prices then you're going to be disappointed. If you want to collect the cards then do that. Does anyone else collect sets like I am? Am I the minority but not playing at my local store? Can anyone give me some advice maybe? Thank you. I have all of these cards which I've enjoyed collecting but don't play with seemingly going down in value as I collect them and I almost feel like it's all been a waste. I remember before core 19 came out I paid £40 for a Karn to complete my set and now he's droped £27! I'm not collecting for the value but I can't help but feel like I've been suckered because I choose to complete my set. But I almost feel like an outsider because I've decided to collect sets rather than collect what is valueable at the time. I've read that if I want a set I should just buy one on ebay, but where is the fun in that? I've completed Dominaria and I plan on collecting Kaladesh too as it was the set that got me intersted in the first place. I fell like im doing something wrong by trying to have a binder with each card from a set. But everything I have read online tells me that I am basically wasting my time and money. I can't tell you how awesome it felt to open a Anjani and a Nicol in the same box. I've bought two Dominaria boxes and more recently a box of core 19 and I love going through and collecting one of each card. See I've come to understand that I really enjoy cracking packs. Sadly I don't have that group of friends so while I keep looking for that I decided I would go about collecting the cards instead. I decided that while I did enjoy playing the game I would probally be better of in a group of friends rather than just playing at my local shop.

I can take ages getting used to being in an new place and meeting new people and in this instance it wasn't getting any easier for me.

However I quickly found that my social anxiety was getting the better of me and I was having trouble with being shoulder to shoulder with strangers while trying to learn a new card game. I began by smashing a deck together from cards I collected from Dominaria and playing at my local store. Hi I've only recently gotten into MTG and I'm still trying to find my footing.
